Job description for Payroll & Bookkeeping Assistant at Worknetics
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Assistant to join our team. The Payroll Assistant will play a critical role in supporting our payroll operations by ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payments. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Note that this role allows the individual to work full-time with flexibility during normal working hours.
Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Assist with the processing of payroll for employees on a regular basis, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
- Data Entry: Input and maintain employee payroll data, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and deductions, in the payroll system.
- Benefit Administration: Assist with the administration of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other deductions.
- Payroll Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll reports and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Compliance: Stay up-to-date on federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to payroll transactions and employee information.
- Customer Service: Respond to employee inquiries and provide support related to payroll matters.
- Reporting: Generate payroll reports and assist with ad hoc reporting requests as needed.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in payroll processing or related administrative role preferred.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with payroll software preferred.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees and vendors.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve payroll issues and discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Confidentiality: Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
